Hayfever usually begins as irritation of the nasal membrane, with swelling, dryness, tickling and episodes of sneezing. A more accurate term for hay fever is allergic rhinitis. The main symptoms, which are due to the irritation of the membranes of the nose and eye and bouts of violent sneezing with streaming eyes. The main offender is usually dust, pollens from trees, flowers and grasses.
Homeopathic treatment based on the hay fever symptoms alone will give relief but not the cure, as the fault is usually the allergic response to the unavoidable airborne irritants, and represents a deep-seated reactive pattern.
The seasonal type is more easily treated, as the symptoms are more acute and more obvious. Perennial rhinitis is best treated by constitutional treatment by a professional homeopath.
